Gosh…I hate dandruff!!!
Maybe because I just started on with the experience. Dandruff was never an issue for me until I recently used a New No-lye hair relaxer that not only clumped my hair but burnt my skull.
And you guessed right, the aftermath of the experience was “dandruff” in a much scarier version.
The dandruff linger on for a while and to say the least, I just couldn’t come to terms with battling dandruff.
I spent endless hours topping remedies until I hit one that worked perfectly for me.
Dandruff AKA “flaky skin” is really embarrassing, I wonder how so many women feel battling them constantly.

So What Exactly Is Dandruff?
Dandruff is actually dead skin cells that have clumped together due to buildup of oil which causes itchy, flaky and sore scalp.
What Causes Dandruff?
Causes of dandruff may include;
- Some type of hair products
- Poor hygiene
- Overgrowth of Yeast (Malassezia)
- Burns due to Relaxers
- Eczema Psoriasis
Here is a simple tip I used to get rid of dandruff fast
I ditched my regular shampoo and started using hand wash.
Although I never saw it anywhere or planned to use it, the idea came as a coincidence when I was washing my hair and I accidentally picked my hand wash instead of my shampoo. And I told myself ‘perhaps you should try this!’
At first, I felt a stinging sensation that lasted just a minute and afterward I went on to wash off- with my conditioner.
Trust me, just 3 days later, I noticed my dandruff clearing off significantly.
I believe it’s due to the antifungal and antibacterial properties present in the hand wash that could be attributed to helping with clearing off the dandruff -causing yeast.
Subsequently I use my hand wash to to wash my hair whenever I notice dandruff on my hair.
Here Are Two Other Remedies I Could Swear By;
Tea Tree Oil
One study showed that shampoos with just 5% tea tree oil significantly improved the severity of dandruff.
You may also want to add some drops to your regular shampoo and tiny drop in your hair cream.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is very helpful in getting rid of dandruff.
It helps to neutralize the residue of hair chemicals such as your shampoo, conditioner or even relaxer.
You can splash some as a final rinse whenever you wash or relax your hair.
ACV is packed with vitamins and amino acids and has great antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties.
How To Use
To treat dandruff, pour out 2 tablespoons of ACV in a small bowl.
Use cotton wool to dab the ACV all-around your scalp and let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse.
Do this once every week to get maximum results quickly.
